# Week 0 — Entering Web3 safely

Week 0 is setup and orientation. It gives you a safe vocabulary and a tool map
before the Foundation asks you to reason about blockchains or touch a wallet.

Nothing this week is assessed — but **Part 4 is the page that protects you for
the rest of the programme**, and Part 1 sets up accounts you need from Week 1.

| Part | Page | Reading |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | [Welcome, GitHub and the platform](./welcome-and-setup.md) | 30 min hands-on |
| 2 | [Web3 starter glossary](./glossary.md) | reference — skim now, return often |
| 3 | [The Web3 tool map](./tools.md) | 20 min |
| 4 | [Staying safe: what you can lose and how](./safety.md) | 25 min |
| 5 | [Regulatory awareness in Singapore](./regulatory-awareness.md) | 20 min |

## What Week 0 is for

By the end of the week you should have:

* a GitHub account, an Academy platform account, and access to the Telegram group
* a glossary you can search when a word stops you mid-sentence
* a rough sense of which tool answers which kind of question
* a working threat model — what you can lose, and how people actually lose it
* enough regulatory awareness to know that "regulated" is not the same as "safe"

::: tip You are not expected to memorise anything
The glossary and the tool map exist so that Weeks 1–4 can move without stopping
to define every term. Recognition, not mastery.
:::

## Two rules that apply all semester

::: danger No exceptions, throughout the Academy
**1. Everything required in this programme is testnet only.** Testnet coins have
no monetary value. No Academy mission will ever ask you to spend real money or
use a mainnet network.

**2. Nobody in the Academy will ever ask for your seed phrase or private key.**
Not a reviewer, not an organiser, not a member of the committee. Anyone who does
is not who they claim to be.
:::

Every page marks material as **Core**, **Landscape**, or **Further Exploration**.
